`M-x version'
GNU Emacs 22.0.50 (i686-pc-linux-gnu)

I'd try answering your question if I could read/speak Russian. Are you having a problem with ljupdate?

Not a problem actually. I just started posting entries on LiveJournal, and it was a natural choice for me to give ljupdate a try. And I like it so far. My original message was just a short review of ljupdate.

The only basic feature I am immediately missing in ljupdate is an ability to compose replies to the existing LJ comments in Emacs. Is it possible to do this at all?

I can't find such a feature in other LJ clients I tested (namely, LogJam and Drivel). But I know that a Windows client Semagic can intercept clicks on LJ entry responses in a WWW browser and redirect them to the Semagic. Also it adds a menu item to the popup menu of the LJ reply link.

In the Firefox adding such a menu item is easy, and redirecting it to Emacs is possible with emacsclient. So this looks feasible for Emacs+Firefox.

LiveJournal's API doesn't have methods for such things, so it would have to be some kind of Emacs+Firefox hack like you describe. Patches are gladly accepted! :)
